stone temple pilotsın en açık seçik ve damardan yazdığı aşk şarkılarından biri, diğer ikisi ise muhtemelen adhesive love ve interstate love song olabilir.
bu şarkının take a bath, i'll drink the water that you leave kısmı ise ayrı bir güzeldir. canlı kayıtlarında ise scott weilandın sesine aşık olmak son derece doğaldır.

stone temple pilots şarkısı olanının bir önceki albüm core'daki wet my bed ile bağlantısı vardır. scott weiland monologlar ile bezeli şarkıya şöyle girer;

"hey everybody, where did mary go?
where did mary go?"

sonra mary'nin yerini tahmin etmeye çalışır ve en sonunda "belki yüzüp kaçmıştır." der aşağıdaki sözlerle.

"did you check the bathroom, the bathtub?
she sleeps there sometimes
water cleanses, you know
washes dirt away, makes new
maybe she, maybe she, maybe she, maybe, maybe she swam away"

yıllardan 1994 olduğunda (albüm 1993'te kaydedilmiştir aslında) weiland aynı marry için şu cümleyi kurar;

"take a bath, ı'll drink the water that you leave"

uçmuş bir kafadır sevdiğinden arda kalan küvet sularını içmek.

bunun dışında oldukça sağlam aşk sözleri de barındırır şarkı. cımbızladığımız takdirde;

"ıf you should die before me
ask if you can bring a friend"

benden önce ölürsen eğer, gittiğin yere "bir arkadaşımı da getirebilir miyim diye sor" hoş bir beklentidir. ben de söylemek isterim bunu birine. yine aynı şarkıda şunlar geçer.

"elimi tutar, gülüş paylaşırız. kayan portakal çiçekleri donar." cümlelerinden sonra güzel bir aşk tanımı da yapılmıştır weiland tarafından. "aşk sevgiyle hatırlanan bir hediye, özverili bir duygudur. kalıcı ve tatlıdır."

yalnız purple albümündeki şarkılar yazılırken yaşananlar da bir o kadar değişiktir. wet my bed'deki mary, scott weiland'ın stone temple pilots'un front man'ı olmadan önce 91 civarında tanıştığı mary forsberg'dir. ilişki bir o kadar çılgındır da. weiland'ın uyuşturucu problemleri ve forsberg'in weiland'a ayak uydurması ile başlayan bir süreçten bahsediyoruz. yürütmeye çalıştırılır ama yürümez.

weiland, purple albümü yayımlandıktan sonra janina castaneda ile evlenir. purple'daki interstate love song(hatta direkman janina ağzından yazılmıştır.), no4'teki atlanta (janina meksika kökenlidir, "mexican princess" diye selam gönderilir.) ve sour girl (she was a happy girl the day that she left me) ise janina castaneda adına yazılacaktır. çift 2000'de boşanır.

sonrasında weiland gider mary forsberg ile evlenir 2002'de. iki çocuğun ardından 2007'de yine ayrılırlar. kim bilir? scott ile marry 1994'te evlenseydi çok daha çılgın bir hayat yaşanabilirdi. üçüncü bir kişi de üzülmemiş olurdu böylece.
