1972'de kayıt edilmiş bir kris kristofferson şarkısı. kristofferson'ın kariyerindeki en başarılı şarkılarından birisi olarak bilinen bu şarkıyı elvis presley 70'lerdeki konserlerinde "why me lord" ismiyle seslendirmiş, tabii ki kralın gospel kıvamı şarkıları seslendirme becerisiyle birlikte tavan yapmıştır. elvis'e bu şarkıda j.d. summer isimli bir bas bariton eşlik etmektedir ki bu zâtın sesi subwoofer'ı gümbür gümbür oynatabilecek pekliktedir.

the highwaymen'in de seslendirmişliği vardır; ancak elvis'ten sonra hepsi boş gelir kulağa.
