film, gerçek bir hikayeden esinlenerek yapıldığı bilinmeden seyredildiğinde "böyle şeyler ancak filmlerde olur" dedirtebilir.

the jackal filminde bruce willis in ülke dışına yat yarışını kullanarak çıkma sahnesinin bu filmden esinlenildiği muhtemeldir.

john hawkins seks ve dolandırıcılık konusunda çok deneyimli birisidir. hatta bazen beraber olduğu kadınları ileride polisten kaçmak amacıyla kullanmak için seçmektedir. önce ufak çaplı dolandırıcılıklarla uğraşırken işi büyütmeye karar verir. arkadaşına çok benzeyen homoseksüel bir diş hekimiyle tanışır, daha sonra arkadaşına 1 milyon dolarlık hayat sigortası yaptırır ve arkadaşını yurt dışına gönderdikten sonra diş hekimini öldürür. parayı aldıktan sonra anlaşma gereği yurt dışında yaşayan arkadaşını krallar gibi de yaşatmaktadır. fakat 4 yıl sonra bir tarafına rahat batan arkadaşı haber vermeden ülkeye giriş yapar ve olay ortaya çıkar. polis seferber olup john hawkins in peşine düşer ama bir türlü yakalayamaz. köşeye sıkışan john hawkins son çare olarak bir yat yarışı sayesinde ülke dışına çıkar fakat polisin kaçtığı ülkedeki sahil güvenlikten yardım istemesiyle yakalanır. ömür boyu hapse mahkum olan john hawkins hapse girdikten sonra hamile bıraktığı bir kadınla evlenir.
