"to be taken as captive by emotions", "to be under the control of the feelings", "not to be able to prevail on imaginations" and ........ " to be 'desperately' leaded by 'mind' ",....oh,yes,this last one sounds a little weird, doesn't it ?

but actually how did we really end up with the idea of that for somebody it is more virtuous to use his/her mind rather than his feelings? who made up this conclusion? more truly 'whose mind' made this decision?'can our minds make a 'logical' decision for a dimension where there is no 'logic'? are they capable of doing so or do we just judge the wrong things with the wrong parameters? ıt seems to me that "virtuous' is the key word here as it is a feeling itself which proves that we need actually also a 'feeling(virtuous)' to compare things'

when i try to think about the reason of why we are always admonished to stay calm or to fight against our "emotions"...why is it really so? because of it was ' statistically' proved that our emotions were always more destructive compared to our minds? or our minds would be jealous if we do the opposite? even assuming our emotions as more destructive; isn't there a huge possibility of that the things that we would call our minds destroyed had been built up by the emotions themselves before indeed? ıf so;what i mean.. if our emotions have both the constructive and destructive elements why do we have to take 'only' the destructive part into consideration when there is a matter of choice between the emotion and the mind?

this discussion which has been lingering for long in my head was re-aroused by a scene in the movie of "the color of paradise"(by the way, that's a great movie, i can suggest). although what has been emphasizing in the movie was not the challenge between the mind and the emotions at all, i think it wouldn't be wrong if i say that it provoked a deep questioning inside me
a scene from the movie was about sending a blind child a to a blind carpenter to be educated. (just take this case as something independent from the movie if you have watched it). the father thinks this is "logical" because the son will learn a kind of craft and will be able to make his own way of his life in the future. and let's assume, there is also a mother who disagrees with the father just simply because she will be missing her son. no logical reason at all!. what a shame! ın such cases what i don't like is that the woman is always the weaker side because her emotions override anything else(whatever they are!) in making such a decision.but.. what about the man? why did he want to send him? ısn't it also really for an emotion like that of the mother? yes, for definitely an emotion. you can sometimes call it happiness, sometimes peace, sometimes love, sometimes something religious. no matter. that does not have an exact definition but that's definitely an emotion. for simplicity i will keep calling it here "happiness". the dad wanted to send his boy for his own happiness(if you think it is for the happiness of the boy, i would say it is just the same! the happiness which brings another) just as in the same manner of the mother. he thinks the son will be happy so he will be happy too. what an emotional logic! what he can not understand is her possibly more emotional and compassionate nature!and as for the nature, i think there is no illogicality in it!

but what i can't bear is what's presented as stronger is always the mind .so the side of the emotions which is mostly represented by women, is always the weaker. but the question here is .. according to whom? of course not to women !

there is a turkish idiom which i think i can translate like " if all minds were for sale in the world, everyone would choose his own" illustrates the whole thing. ı think it says "if your mind was for sale, while you don't have it-, you would still have something -a kind of power- that would make you still buy your own mind " as a probably result of an illogical choice. what is that power? the power of emotions? so i can say that our emotions have nothing wrong with our minds. they like it :). so maybe what makes us see the mind as stronger are actually our minds ironically run by the emotions again! what an illogical illusion!

to summarize, comparing the mind over the emotion is something just like to compare the nature and the mathematics. and which is more? more what..? it just depends on "by what" we compare them( by mind or by heart) and "for what" we compare them (for a feeling like being virtuous or for logic)..with such a chaos, to me it is stupid to compare them and it is more stupid to define "to be defeated by emotions"..well,,actually.. to me i just.. the more i can feel the more i feel stronger..logic or illogical..
